Snow Flakes
“All praise to winter, then, was Henry's feeling. Let others have their sultry luxuries. How full of creative genius was the air in which these snow-crystals were generated. He could hardly have marveled more if real stars had fallen and lodged on his coat. What a world to live in, where myriads of these little discs, so beautiful to the most prying eye, were whirled down on every traveler's coat, on the restless squirrel's fur and on the far-stretching fields and forests, the wooded dells and mountain-tops,--these glorious spangles, the sweepings of heaven's floor.”

My word, is that ice on the trees? Makes me cold just looking at it. It has been unseasonably warm here. In the 80s yesterday. We had three nights of 30° last week and now 80s. Strange year so far. I have plants coming up that shouldn't be, until March. In town, some magnolias have sparse blooms and should not be in bloom until May. Going to be a weird year I think. Great photos. Veleria
ReplyDeleteNope, just snow on our porch rails this morning! :) We did have a pretty heavy hoarfrost this morning so the trees were lovely as well.
DeleteWow, 80s! My father is in PA right now and it was 71 there a couple days ago! Meanwhile we were getting another 10 inches of snow! It's supposed to get really cold here starting this Friday...highs in the low single digits.
Love the detail and contrast in these! We got a dusting of snow over the last couple of days...I'm kind of hoping spring gets here sooner than later. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Marian! We have been getting a lot of huge, perfectly formed flakes the last few days and they are fun to photograph. However, I will definitely be ready for Spring when it comes too! :)
DeleteWow, great job capturing these snow crystals, Joanna! They are lovely to see, definitely stars on earth. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Eliza! It is amazing how perfectly formed and unique each snowflake is!
DeleteThese are really exquisite.
ReplyDeleteI know! There are so many wonders around us that we don't appreciate enough!
